powered by Responserack National Fire Incident Reporting System. Reporting by Responserack Fire Department NFIRS RMS.

NFIRS 5.0 Element: ‘Property Use’

Definition: The precise use at the location of the incident, e.g. residential or maybe farming. Please see ‘mixed use’ for the option to provide alternative uses of the property, however this is the precise use at the incident.

Purpose: This element permits analyses of differing fire problems that occur on a wide range of property types. Information on the frequency, losses, and types of fires for each property use can assist in targeting fire prevention programs and fire protection or suppression systems for each type of property. It often assists in ordering priorities for inspection, developing new building codes, and evaluating the success of programs directed at particular types of properties.
