Also known as: ‘storiesMinorDamage’
Definition: The number of stories damaged by flame spread with minor damage (1 to 24% flame damage). Flame damage is the area actually burned or charred and does not include areas receiving only heat, smoke, or water damage.
Purpose: In combination with other information, this element describes the magnitude or seriousness of the fire. It can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of built-in fire protection features or the effectiveness of the fire suppression force relative to the conditions faced. The confinement and extinguishment of a fire is influenced by many factors. Fire spread indicates the combined effect of these conditions. Also, the analysis of fire spread over many fires can reveal the effects of individual factors.
