Definition: The estimated age of the person involved (if age was a factor.)
Purpose: This information can be used with other demographic information to identify fire problems in certain segments of the population and to target fire prevention and fire safety programs for certain audiences.This data element is particularly useful in tracking juvenile firesetter trends, when used in combination with Age Was a Factor (Block D2) and Gender of Person Involved (Block L2).
Entry: Enter the age of the person responsible for the fire. Estimate the age if it cannot be determined.

NFIRS 5.0 relational edit validation rules are provided to ensure NFIRS data is consistent and correct for the fire/reporting concepts that are being modeled. Relational edits determine relationships between multiple fields / elements. These are the rules for ‘Age of Person’.
