Incident Reporting

After the incident is terminated (and units have cleared the scene) the administrative portion of the work begins. Reporting incidents to state databases allows response information to be aggregated at the state and federal level, providing critical insights for public safety and resource management. Further, fire departments submitting their information improve their eligibility for available grants.

The National Fire Information Reporting System is a reporting standard that fire departments use to uniformly report on the full range of their activities, from fire to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to severe weather and natural disasters.

Careful and complete entry of the incident type, the actions taken by the fire department and the various other aspects of the incident provide a record (a database of records) that allow for many public policy and resource management benefits. Additionally, the fire department can use their contributions to this database to answer questions for grant applications.

If only NFIRS entry was easy and simple. Responserack is here to help.
