Legacy That said, a lot has changed in the past two decades. ESO Firehouse has become an exceedingly dated legacy product (both in underlying technology and user experience) that remains proudly a records management system; a dry database of incident reports, database records and various reports.
ESO Firehouse has traditionally required fire departments to manage the computers (the hardware) it runs on, and also maintain the installation. Few departments want to manage hardware, especially when computers can get wet. (Currently ESO Firehouse Software’s “cloud install” is the same but on remote machines; that is not the same as web technology.)
Back Office ESO Firehouse is neither conveinient nor accessible to most firefighters; it neither serves their needs nor satisfies their interest. ESO Firehouse is - at best - a legacy “back office tool” for tolerant administrators, not firefighters.
Modern / Mobile firefighters need the right information at the right time, they need mobile simplicity, and firefighters (especially volunteer firefighters) need limited NFIRS complexity. Firefighters need information delivered to them; effective tools designed for their needs, not designed by NFIRS compliance.
